Thank you for taking the opportunity to visit my webpage. It is my intent to use this site as a tool that will allow you the opportunity to learn more about me and the classes that I have helped develop for students that attend SJPS. In addition, I hope to improve the communication and relationship between students, parents, staff, and community. I have had the extreme privilege of teaching in the SJPS system since 1999. I received my bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University with a major in Wood Technology and minor in General Industrial Education. It is also from Western that I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.

The Upton Middle Schools Mission Statement
"Upton Middle School promotes excellence in each individual intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally."
All of the above standards of excellence are upheld in elective classes as well as our core academic classes. I maintain achievable and realistic standards for myself and my students. I communicate and model theses standards for my students and hold them accountable for them. My personal philosophy places the students social and emotional well being as my #1 priority. I believe that you first have to take an interest in kids, give them the respect that they deserve, and empower them before they can be successful in the classroom.

The Industrial Technology Mission Statement
"I am committed to providing a positive, safe, and productive learning environment while encouraging students to reach their maximum potential. Industrial Technology classes provide an alternative as well as an additional avenue for success by teaching problem solving skills through hands-on activities that reinforce content from the core curricular areas. We provide vocational as well as avocational experiences by working with local industry and educators to assure that appropriate content and employability skills are taught."

I believe that our biggest strength is maintaining a positive relationship by working collaboratively with our staff, administrators, parents, students, and community partners toward continual growth and improvement.
Thanks for your patience!!!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or suggestions!!!

Summer Food Service Program

Welcome to the Michigan Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) site locator. The SFSP was created to ensure that children in lower-income areas could continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations, when they do not have access to the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs.
