St. Joseph is a wonderful community. I was born and raised here and graduated from St. Joseph High School. My parents and all of my children (6) graduated from St. Joseph High as well. I went on to Central Michigan University where I received a BA and elementary teacher certification. I taught 1 year at Lake Michigan Catholic in 5th grade. Then my husband, John, took a job with North Dakota State University as their head Athletic Trainer and curriculum director. Our children were born in Fargo. I had a daycare for several years while my children were small. Then I returned to education as an aide and then as a substitute teacher. It was then that our family longed to return to St. Joseph, so we did. Here, I became involved as an aide and then substituting and eventually being hired in as a full time 5th grade teacher. After a few years, I completed my MA at Western Michigan University. After that, I had an opportunity to move to a 2nd grade classroom. Two years ago, I was offered a position with our youngest students in Young 5s where I continue to teach. I love helping students learn and be successful. I am fulfilling my dream since I was a young girl, being a teacher!
