Hello and thanks for visiting! My name is Beth Fairchild, and I am one of two School Social Workers for the district. I travel between Brown Elementary, Upton Middle School, and St. Joseph High School. The great thing about my job is that everyday is different! My job is made up of a variety of tasks and is really interesting because I work with kids from Young Fives through 12th grade.
At the elementary level, I see students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom regularly. I teach about character education, social skills, coping skills, anger management, problem-solving, etc... I also run a Helping Hands program which combines the Conflict Manager program with the Circle of Friends program and student videos on "right & wrong" interactions & of recess activities.
At the middle and high school, I focus on individual sessions with students, small groups/classroom lessons and evaluations for at-risk students and special education. At all levels I am available to parents and teachers to help problem-solve and access community resources.
