Where am I from?
I grew up in a small town known as Constantine, Michigan. Located in the southwest corner of the mitten. I attended Alma College and received my bachelors degree in Elementary Education with two minors in Integrated Science and Social Studies. I also received a ZA Early Childhood endorsement (which certifies me to teach birth through age 8). While attending Alma College, I played four years of collegiate volleyball and was also a part of many different campus and community groups. After graduating from Alma College, I received my first teaching job at Alma Public Schools where I taught 4th grade. Now, I am here at St. Joe Public Schools teaching 5th grade!
My family consists of my father Tim, who was a middle school social studies teacher for 33 years and coached a variety of sports, but is now enjoying retirement. My mother Chris, is a small business owner of a travel agency in Portage called Cruise Connections. She has taken our family on many wonderful trips, which allowed us to explore the world. Lastly, my two older brothers are Austin and Aaron. Austin lives in Chicago and works for a sales company. He also just got married this summer! Aaron is a football coach and works for a family business in Constantine. My family is very important to me, and I am blessed that we are all so close.
Why I choose to teach...
I believe that teachers are some of the luckiest people on the planet. Everyday they are greeted by children who have an opportunity to grow as an individual. As a teacher, I have the opportunity to inspire and create new ideas, knowledge, and vision into their life. When students walk out of my classroom they are going to know how much I care about them through their excitement for learning, and eagerness to want to come back everyday. I believe that every student can learn no matter what the circumstance. The students in my classroom hold what our future will be, and I want to make a difference in our future.
