Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Arrival & Dismissal

School starts at 8:25 a.m..  Students who are dropped off should arrive at school no earlier than 8:15 a.m..  Those who arrive after 8:30 a.m. are considered tardy.  School dismisses at 3:48 p.m..
With over 460 students at our school, arrival and dismissal takes a coordinated effort from all of us.  Our primary goal is safety. .  . and we want to get kids going to where they need to be for learning or after-school activities in a timely fashion, too.  Please familiarize yourself with our pick up and drop off procedures.    If you need help to understand them, please ask!
Car Riders
Parents of students arriving or leaving school by car are required to use the west (bigger) lot.  To ensure student safety, no exceptions will be made.  The east (smaller) lot is reserved for bus traffic and school staff members.    Students should always enter and leave the car on the passenger side.  To keep the traffic moving, we ask that you say your good-byes and do reminders at home before leaving for school.

At the end of the day, parents are asked to wait in their cars in the designated pick up lane.  You will need a yellow visor tag with your child's last name.

If you meet your child after school and escort him/her to a parked car, please wait at our designated pick up area.  Do not pick up your child at exit doors or the east end of the building.  Remember, safety first!  Please use the sidewalks when possible as you return to your car.  Students are not allowed to walk through the parking lot alone.
Exiting our parking lot during arrival and dismissal?  Please observe our posted 'right turn only' signs

Walkers
Students who walk to Laukus Lane, Apple Acre Dr, and Hidden Acres will be dismissed by the classroom teachers and are expected to use the designated side walks.  The Berrien County Road Commission provides our school crossing guard to ensure student safety when crossing Glenlord Road.  Please be sure to talk with your child about waiting for direction before crossing the street.

Bikers
Students who ride their bikes to school are asked to walk their bike across Glenlord Road under the direction of the crossing guard.  Once at school, students are required to secure their bike in the bike rack at the front of the building.

The diagram below outlines our dismissal routines.  Students will meet before school on the playground.

New to our school?  You may find the video we made the year of our construction project helpful.  http://youtu.be/d1ZvuLHcN04 The video is a bit dated, but the information about how the traffic flow is intended to work at arrival and dismissal is still correct.
