Hello and thanks for visiting my webpage! My name is Beth Fairchild, and I am one of two School Social Workers for the district. I travel between Brown Elementary, Upton Middle School, and St. Joseph High School. This is my twelfth year with the district.
The great thing about my job is that everyday is different! My job is made up of a variety of tasks and is really interesting because I work with kids from Young Fives through 12th grade. At the elementary level, I see students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom regularly. I teach about character education, social skills, coping skills, anger management, problem-solving, etc... I also run a Helping Hands program which combines the Conflict Manager program with the Circle of Friends program and coaching. At the middle and high school, I focus on individual sessions with students, small groups and evaluations for at-risk students and special education. At all levels I am available to parents and teachers to help problem-solve and access community resources.
I am excited to work in this district because I was born and raised in St. Joseph. After graduating from St. Joseph High School, I attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. After that, I attended Arizona State University where I received my Master's of Social Work. Then I returned to St. Joseph with my husband. We have 2 daughters and enjoy all the wonderful activities St. Joe has to offer!
