Sara Emerson is the director of choirs at St. Joseph High School and Upton Middle School. She directs five choirs and advises small vocal ensembles at the high school as well. Under her direction, the St. Joseph choirs have received top ratings at both district and state choral festivals. Many of Ms. Emerson's choir students have been members in Regional, State, and All-State MSVMA Honors Choirs. Ms. Emerson received her Bachelor of Music in Choral Education and Vocal Performance, as well as her teaching certification from the University of Michigan and she holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Bowling Green State University. She also has studied in France and Austria. Ms. Emerson has sung a variety of lead opera roles, performed song recitals, appeared as a featured soloist with orchestras and bands, and has won several voice competitions around the country. Ms. Emerson is an Interlochen Arts Academy graduate and she is originally from Traverse City, MI.
