Hello and welcome to my web site. My name is Martha Emlong, and my goal is to help my students become as successful as they can be, as well as, become lovers of learning. I started teaching in St. Joseph Public Schools in 1973, and as they say, the rest is history. I still love my job, and I cannot imagine doing anything else. Part of my love of my career is because I was fortunate enough to begin it in St. Joseph Public Schools. The support of the community, administrators, parents, and students has made my job a pleasure and privilege.
I am truly a product of the area as I graduated from Benton Harbor High School, received my BA from Albion College, and my MA from Michigan State University.
I am looking forward to getting to know your children and helping them move into the 21st Century as learners and responsible, contributing adults.
I am also looking forward to meeting as many of my students' parents as possible because together we can achieve the best results. The more we are aware of each other's desires and purposes, the better you can help your child in his education and the better I know his background and needs.
