I am a proud alumnus of St. Joseph High School and I am also proud to be a staff member here. After graduation in 1986, I went to Western Michigan University and earned my teaching degree in 1990. I went back in 2000 and entered graduate school and earned my Special Education degree.
This has been a lifelong dream and I have been living it for the last 5 years. I had been a member of the Social Studies department up until this year when I entered Special Education. I truly enjoy the daily interaction with my students. We have a great bunch of kids here and it is my goal to help them fulfill their dreams. My philosophy is to make our students work as hard as they can to be prepared to either enter college or the work force. But, I also want to make the learning environment as comfortable as can be.
In addition, I had been a member of our football coaching staff since 2000. I had been the JV head coach since 2003. This winter, I had a very bittersweet moment. I was named the new head varsity coach of Michigan Lutheran's brand new football program. Certainly, I was proud to get the job and it has been a goal to become a varsity head coach again since leaving Cassopolis as their head coach in 1999. However, it was one of the most difficult decisions I had to make because I have absolutely loved coming back to my alma mater to coach. We have a wonderful staff here who will be lifelong friends and you couldn't ask for a nicer, more coachable, or hard-working group of kids to coach. I will miss coaching here, but I'm excited for my new adventure.
As time goes on, I will have my syllabus, calendar, and classwork/homework sections updated so that you can see what your children are accomplishing in my classroom.
